Thursday Night Football: 11/12/2015
Buffalo Bills (4-4) @ New York Jets (5-3)
Kickoff: 8:25 PM ET, MetLife Stadium
TV: CBS and NFL Network.
To say that Thursday night’s match-up game vs the NY Jets is a must win for Buffalo would be an immense understatement.
Buffalo got a big win this past Sunday vs Miami in a game that was certainly a must win, but Thursday’s game is even more so. Defeating Miami got the Bills back to .500 at 4-4. The Jets are 5-3 and currently second to 8-0 New England in the AFC East. A win for the Bills will make both the Jets and themselves 5-4 and tied for the second spot. If Buffalo wants to do something this season, then this must happen. It is simply not an option.
It’s interesting to note the following:
Former Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will start for the Jets and former Bills Head Coach Chan Gailey is New York’s Offensive Coordinator. Many of the players on Buffalo’s Defense played with Fitzpatrick and for Gailey, so the Jets may have the added advantage in knowing what to expect.
By the same token, the Bills biggest advantage in this game is Rex Ryan. Buffalo’s Head Coach is the Jets ex-Head Coach, and he has without a doubt been looking forward to this game all season long. Ryan knows the Jets and how they operate. He knows the team’s offense and defense. Will this give the Bills a leg up or not remains to be seen.
Buffalo comes into the match up led by QB Tyrod Taylor, RB LeSean McCoy, and WR Sammy Watkins. New York’s most dangerous offenders are QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, RB Chris Ivory, and WR Brandon Marshall.
The most interesting versus of the night will be the Bills running backs against the Jets rush defense. Buffalo’s LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams have had terrific seasons and currently combine for 752 rushing yards and 7 TDs. They are up against a New York Jets defense that have allowed an NFL best 645 yards against and a mere 2 TDs all season. Which side will fold first in this clash of super talent?
This game has a lot on the line for both sides and will be very fun to watch. Don’t miss it!
