Beauts Win on the Road

By Frank Wolf

The Buffalo Beauts traveled to Connecticut this weekend for a showdown with the Whale. Amanda Leveille made 30 saves in goal while Devon Skeats and Kourtney Kunichika each scored twice in a 6-4 Beauts win.

This was the first game these teams played since the Holiday break began back on December 10th.

The Whale spotted the Beauts a three goal lead but stormed back to tie it in the second.

Kunichika netted her 2nd goal of the game mid 3rd. Soon after scoring the go-ahead goal the Beauts found themselves on the power play. However it was the Whale’s special teams that stepped up first. Meagan Mangene scored with her team short-handed to tie this game at 4. The Beauts responded, Emily Janiga scored with time remaining in the man-advantage to give Buffalo a 5-4 lead and never looked back.

Skeats scored her 2nd goal to give the Beauts the added insurance. Kelley Steadman had a goal and an assist for Buffalo.

The Beauts next game is Saturday January 14th at Harborcenter in Buffalo against the NY Riveters. The Beauts improved their season record to 4-5-1, good for 2nd place.

Boston vs NY PPD

The Riveters were scheduled to play the Boston Pride on Saturday but the game was postponed. The following message was posted on the league website “Due to Winter Storm Helena and traffic conditions, this game will be played at a later date.”
