Though players are told these four days will not determine your fate as a Buffalo Sabre. The competitive edge of each drill still makes them want to show their best.
Especially if they feel like their window is starting to close.
Vasily Glotov is one such player.
Glotov, a center who was a seventh round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft knows that with this being his third development camp it’s important to show that he is growing and improving.
“I think you’ve got to show that you are better than you were a few years ago. One year ago,” Glotov said. “So you’ve got to step up.”
Glotov said that this is also the time for him to stand out from the pack and make a statement about what he can bring.
“Big time, of course.” Glotov ssid. “That’s why we’re here at development camp. Coaches are around to help you develop your game and you are here to prove that you deserve to be here. You are better than you were last year. If you stay in the same spot, then new guy is going to come in and take your spot.”
On the ice, first overall pick Rasmus Dahlin brought the crowd to its feet once again. But not because of a highlight reel goal.
Dahlin showed some grit when he floored Matej Pekar during the scrimmage portion of the Day Three second session.
Camp wraps up Saturday with the 3-on-3 French Connection Tournament which will be live streamed on www.sabres.com.
Tourney is slated to run from 10:45am-1pm.
