Angola native and undefeated professional mixed martial artist (MMA) Patrick Mix will have his debut Bellator promotion fight at Bellator 222 inside the world’s most famous arena – Madison Square Garden – on Friday, June 14th in New York.

Earlier this year, Mix signed another professional contract and his first with Bellator, one of the largest global promotions in MMA. Patrick, known also as ‘Pat,’ ‘Patchy,’ Patchy ‘No Love,’’ and ‘Patrick ‘War Ready’ Mix,’ caught the attention of Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn, co-owners of Jackson Wink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 2016 after an explosive start to his professional career fighting out of WNY MMA & Fitness in Buffalo.

Pat not only caught the attention Jackson and Winkeljohn, but also that of Ali Abdelaziz, owner and founder of Dominance MMA Management and personal manager to current UFC champions Khabib Nurmagomedov, Henry Cejudo, and Kamaru Usman. Mix signed on with Abdelaziz and Dominance in 2017.

Now, at 10-0 professionally and posting twenty-one straight wins over the last five years, ‘Patchy’ is ready for the chance to make a statement on one of the biggest stages in one of America’s fastest growing and most competitive sport industries.

“To make my Bellator debut at Madison Square Garden is everything to me,” Mix said in a statement. “It’s the Mecca of the sports world and to be able to fight in the arena where many of the greats have is a dream come true.”

In preparation for the fight, Mix has spent the last six months training around the clock alongside some of the worlds’ top mixed martial artists. Pat can be found training with the likes of UFC champion Jon Jones and former champion Holly Holm as well as other stars like Aaron Pico, Diego Sanchez, Carlos Condit, John Dodson, and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in the intense heat, rugged terrain, and brutal elevation of the New Mexico desert on a daily basis.

In addition to instruction from Jackson and Winkeljohn, Pat perfects the wrestling element of his game which he is already known for with Izzy Martinez, Jackson Wink wrestling coach and globally recognized name in wrestling and MMA.

“Since coming to Jackson Wink I’ve taken my game to a completely new level in all areas,” said Mix. “I’m looking forward to showcasing my growth at Bellator 222.”

Patchy’s hard working attitude, training regimen, humility, and dedication to the sport have earned him not only twenty-one straight wins, professional contracts, and the opportunity to fight on a world stage, but the admiration of some of the most respected and decorated ambassadors of the game who see UFC champion potential in the 25-year old from western New York.

“There is no doubt you will be the next world champion,” Jackson remarked recently in a training session at the Academy. In an Instagram post from March 14th, Holly Holm tagged Pat in a picture with the caption “Keep your eyes on Patchy Mix. Happy to have him here and be someone I can learn so much from.”

Mix will take on Ricky Bandajas (11-2) in a bantamweight (135-pounds) preliminary bout at Bellator 222 on Friday inside Madison Square Garden. Pat is a 2011 graduate of Lake Shore High School and is currently also an assistant wrestling coach at Sweet Home.
