Local professional mixed martial artist (MMA) Patrick “Patchy” Mix has agreed to terms for his second Bellator fight. The promotion announced the fight on Monday and Mix confirmed it on his Twitter page (@TeamMixMMA).
Patrick, also known as “No Love” and “War Ready” will square off in a bantamweight preliminary bout with Dominic “The Honey Badger” Mazzotta on Saturday, October 26th at Bellator 232 at the Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Uncasville, CT.
Mix is currently 11-0 professionally and holds a perfect 22-0 record over the past five years.
Mix took the fight world by storm in his Bellator debut on June 14th inside Madison Square Garden when he submitted Ricky Bandejas in just over sixty seconds. Social media erupted with excitement of Patchy’s electrifying finish and national media outlets were quick to jump on Pat’s story not long afterward.
“It was great to be the center of attention after beating Ricky,” Pat said in a statement reflecting on his explosive Bellator debut. “He had huge hype after beating [James] Gallagher and I feel like I took it all from him in just over a minute! With the added attention it elevates me to another level and I feel puts more eyes on me from the fans.”
The 26-year old native of Angola boasts a 5’11” frame with a 70.5” reach making him one of the longest and most difficult opponents for any challenger in the bantamweight-weight class (approximately 135-pounds) in all of MMA.
Pat’s opponent is a 32-year old out of Kensington, PA with a professional record of 15-3-0. “No Love” holds a significant height and reach advantage over Mazzotta who is 5’7” with a reach of 66-inches.
“I particularly like going against shorter opponents,” Mix said. “It gives me many advantages that I’ll display in this fight. But nonetheless I will bully Dominic [Mazzotta] for the entire time we share the cage.”
Originally fighting out of WNY MMA & Fitness in Buffalo, Pat now works out of JacksonWink MMA Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico with some of fighting’s most elite athletes and trainers. In addition, Mix is represented by Ali Abdelaziz at Dominance MMA. In addition to up and coming stars like Pat, Dominance also manages three current UFC champions in Henry Cejudo, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Kamaru Usman as well as dozens of other established fighters.
Mix is a 2011 graduate of Lake Shore High School and a two-time Section VI wrestling champion. He’s also an assistant wrestling coach at Sweet Home.
