Third-year forward to join team in Chicago
Chicago – Sunday morning the Buffalo Sabres recalled forward Tage Thompson from their AHL affiliate in Rochester. The Amerks played in Utica last night, defeating the Comets by way of a comeback 4-3.
Thompson has recorded 12 points (6-6) through 16 games thus far and leads the team in shots on goal (67).
Last night versus Ottawa, Sabres forward Kyle Okposo left the game during the second period with an undisclosed injury. Thompson was the lucky call up, his first recall this season.
Rasmus Asplund was called up on Friday after Marco Scandella was injured in a game versus Carolina Thursday. Centers Marcus Johansson (upper body) and Johan Larsson (upper body) are still out along with Vladimir Sobotka (lower body) who is expected to miss at least another four weeks.
The Amerks, winners of three straight now sit atop of the AHL’s North Division standings one point ahead of the Laval Rocket.
Thompson has appeared in 106 NHL games between Buffalo and St. Louis.
